Latam Colombia transported more than 6 million travelers in 2021

-

Latam Colombia disclosed its operational results for 2021, where it highlights having transported 6,174,318 passengers throughout the year, which accounts for 91% of the pre-pandemic levels in 2019.

In addition, during 2021 a total of 47,822 flights were operated between domestic and international and 13 new domestic routes were launched to complete a total of 33 domestic routes in 16 destinations and 4 international routes.

According to these numbers, Colombia is the most reactivated market for the Latam Group in South America, a landmark that the company credits to a large extent to the Colombian government’s airline recovery initiatives, where it reduced VAT from 19% to 5% on airline tickets.

In this regard, Santiago Álvarez, CEO Latam Colombia, affirmed «We are very proud of the results achieved in 2021. Although Covid-19 was the deepest and most complex crisis in aviation, at the same time it became a tremendous opportunity to reinforce our position in the Colombian market, especially in cities such as Medellin and Cali, and with this, to advance in our goal of becoming a genuine alternative for the Colombian passenger, reaching approximately 30% market share in the country».

Moreover, in December 2021 the airline reached a total share of 26% in domestic flights, thereby consolidating its position as the second operator in the market. It also emphasized that Medellín was the leading destination in the domestic travel market, carrying 136,258 passengers to 11 domestic destinations on 983 flights.

By 2022, the airline expects to serve 10 million passengers in the country, as well as to launch the Bogotá – Quito route and relaunch three international routes from Lima to Medellín, Cali, and Cartagena.
