ITA Airways (ex – Alitalia) and airBaltic have announced a code-share cooperation expanding travel opportunities between the Baltic countries and Italy. Customers of the Latvian carrier will benefit from convenient access to several Italian cities, just as ITA clients can now purchase tickets to Riga on non-stop flights from Rome – Fiumicino and Milan-Malpensa.
airBaltic will broaden its offer of destinations by placing its «BT» code on selected flights operated by ITA Airways covering 10 cities during the winter season: Brindisi, Bari, Catania, Genoa, Palermo, Reggio Calabria, Lamezia, Terme, Turin, Trieste, Venice, to which will be added in the summer season Bologna, Florence, Naples and Verona.
In such a way ITA Airways will offer connections to its customers and will place the code «AZ» on flights operated by airBaltic between Latvia and Italy.
«We are very pleased to add ITA Airways as another partner to our existing network of codeshare airlines. Our strong network of partners allows us to further enhance the connectivity of the Baltic states. The new partnership provides convenient connections to existing destinations in Italy.»
The codeshare flights are already on sale through the website of both airlines and will start from February 2.
ITA Airways since the start of its operations has made several codeshare partnerships with Skyteam airlines and former Alitalia partners to expand its network of destinations. Interestingly, airBaltic also has cooperation with several airlines of the Lufthansa Group, the potential buyer of the nascent Italian airline.
