Lufthansa is consolidating its operations for the 2022 summer season from the 160 destinations it offers from Frankfurt (FRA) and Munich (MUC). The airline will offer new destinations, increased frequencies on existing routes, and the relaunch of seasonal services. From its main hubs, the airline will operate around 5,000 weekly flights reaching almost 2019 levels.
Munich (MUC)
Lufthansa will strengthen the operation of its five-star hub in the Bavarian capital with the introduction of three new routes as of March 27, 2022: Rio de Janeiro, Brazil (GIG), San Diego, USA (SAN), and Bangkok, Thailand (BKK).
From Munich, it will increase the Airbus A350-900 fleet from 17 to 21 aircraft in order to modernize the company’s long-haul fleet. During the summer, five Airbus A340-600s will be reactivated to offer First Class on the segment’s most popular routes.
In Europe, the airline will offer six new destinations from the Bavarian capital: Kalamata, Greece (KLX), Menorca, Spain (MAH), Varna, Bulgaria (VAR), Billund, Denmark (BLL) and Bergen, Norway (BGO). Starting in April Air Dolomiti will fly to Brindisi, Italy (BDS).
Eurowings Discover
Lufthansa Group’s new low-cost subsidiary will begin operations to long-haul holiday destinations from Munich (MUC) for the 2022 summer season: Punta Cana, Dominican Republic (PUJ), Cancun, Mexico (CUN), and Las Vegas, USA (LAS).
Eurowings Discover will also include new short/medium-haul routes from the Bavarian capital to 22 tourist destinations to the Canary Islands, Turkey, and twelve Greek islands. It also includes two new ones in Greece to Samos (SMI) and Skiathos (JSI).
Frankfurt (FRA)
Lufthansa will fly to 25 destinations to the United States for next, the airline’s largest offering in its history. The airline will add a new destination to St. Louis (STL) with three weekly flights starting in June 2022. It will be the first non-stop flight by a European airline to Lambert Airport in approximately 20 years to the state of Missouri.
The airline additionally will fly to three European destinations during the summer to Stavanger, Norway (SVG), Liverpool, United Kingdom (LPL), and Rennes, France (RNS).
Eurowings Discover
For the summer season, 2022, the airline will bring new short, medium, and long-haul routes and destinations from Frankfurt (FRA). From North America, the offer includes Las Vegas (LAS), Salt Lake City (SLC), Fort Myers (RSW), Anchorage (ANC), Halifax (YHZ), Calgary (YYC), and Tampa (TPA). The airline’s schedule also includes Victoria Falls (VFA), Kilimanjaro (JRO), Panama City (PTY), and Malé, Maldives (MLE).
Medium/short-haul tourism offerings include new flights to the Greek islands, the Canary Islands, Portugal, and Turkey.
Brussels (BRU)
Brussels Airlines will offer by summer 2022, daily flights to New York (JFK) and five weekly flights from Washington Dulles (IAD), allowing connections between Africa and the United States from Brussels (BRU).
Swiss from Geneva (GVA) announces a non-stop connection to the Belgian capital.
Special flights to the Qatar 2022 World Cup
Lufthansa is temporarily offering a total of 25 special flights for fans from Frankfurt (FRA) to Doha (DOH) between November 14, 2022, and December 19, 2022. There will be up to five flights per week and plans to be operated on Airbus A340-300s with flight number LH620. These flights will be available for sale from December 16.
