During ICAN 2021 Dominican Republic negotiates air agreements with eight countries

To boost the aviation sector and increase the connectivity of the Dominican territory with other countries of the world and during the celebration of International Civil Aviation Day, the Civil Aviation Board (JAC) participates in the thirteenth Air Services Negotiation Event of the International Civil Aviation Organization (ICAO) – ICAN 2021 -, a field where aerocommercial relations between states are encouraged in a strategic manner.

On the occasion of the event, which takes place in Bogota, Colombia, between December 8 and 10, the president of the JAC, Dr. José Ernesto Marte Piantini, emphasized the good aerocommercial relations with other countries that are proven by the quality of air services that the Dominican Republic offers.

«Civil aviation is among the priorities of the Dominican government which is headed by the President of the Republic Luis Abinader, as a transversal axis to promote the economy and tourism,» said Marte Piantini through a statement issued by the JAC.

He also mentioned that the ICAN is a primary scenario to carry out important negotiations to boost the air commercial sector, an event where bilateral negotiations of air services, signing of memorandums of understanding (MoU), and protocols of amendment to service agreements to establish air commercial relations were carried out, in order to expand the connectivity of the country.

Dominican Republic’s Negotiations at ICAN 2021

During ICAN2020, the Dominican Republic supported the expansion of air connectivity through important approaches, meetings, and negotiations with the Czech Republic, Argentina, Cuba, Kuwait, Rwanda, Spain, Guatemala, and Brazil.

One of the highlights of these negotiations was the future return of scheduled flights by Aerolineas Argentinas.
