As of Thursday 16 American and Avianca will move their operations to Palmerola

Starting next Thursday, December 16, American Airlines will move its entire operation to Palmerola International Airport (XPL), which inaugurated operations last Saturday, December 11, and will no longer operate out of Toncontín International Airport (TGU) in Tegucigalpa.

As such, the U.S. airline will continue its normal operation of two daily flights to Miami and three weekly flights to Dallas/Fort Worth, two key hubs in the United States.

Verna Osorto, American’s Operations Manager in Honduras, stated «American has a 30-year commitment to Honduras, and our team in the country is ready to welcome and serve our customers in Palmerola, offering them a more modern travel experience.»

Likewise, Avianca announced the transfer of its operation from Tegucigalpa to Comayagua on the same date, December 16, 2021.

«We are ready to serve our customers from the new airport, where we will have improved efficiency, with state-of-the-art infrastructure and modern technology that will allow us to optimize our service to our passengers. Without a doubt, this is a significant contribution to the country’s connectivity with the region,» said David Alemán, Avianca’s CEO for Central and South America.

The airline now operates daily flights to San Salvador and four weekly flights to Guatemala, which will continue to serve passengers from Tegucigalpa from the new air terminal with enhanced facilities.
