Maersk orders 2 new Boeing 777Fs

-

Maersk, the Danish maritime and land logistics company, has ordered two new Boeing 777 freighters for its Star Air division. The announcement was made jointly between Boeing and AP Moller – Maersk and both units will be operated by Star Air, Maersk’s airline, which currently only flies the 767 models.

«As a global container logistics integrator, Maersk is enhancing its ability to provide end-to-end logistics capabilities for our customers. This year, we have strengthened our offering through e-commerce logistics acquisitions, investments in technology, expansion of our warehouses and, as a natural next step, we are now increasing our airfreight capacity, creating a wider network to even better meet customer needs», explained Vincent Clerc, executive Vice President, AP Moller – Maersk.

The Boeing 777F is the world’s longest-range, highest-capacity twin-engine freighter in the world today. It has a range of 9,200 km and is capable of carrying a maximum useful load of 102,000 kgs, allowing Star Air to make fewer stops on long-haul routes.

According to data provided by our partner Aeroin, the 777F is the American manufacturer’s best-selling freighter of all time. Customers around the world have ordered more than 300 units since the program began in 2005.
