Iberia confirms flights to Dallas, San Francisco and Washington

As we reported last week, Iberia confirmed today Nov 8th,  that it will expand its presence next Summer in the United States by adding flights to Dallas, San Francisco, and Washington.

The Spanish airline will inaugurate operations between Madrid and Dallas in April, with a frequency of four flights a week which, given that the Texas metropolis is the main hub of American Airlines, will provide a new range of connections to and from the United States as part of the joint business agreement that Iberia has with American Airlines, British Airways and Finnair for the operation of routes between Europe and the North Atlantic.

In the same month Iberia will also launch Washington D.C., a destination that had already been announced just before the start of the pandemic. There will be four weekly flights.

As for San Francisco, Iberia will operate three weekly flights from Madrid, also starting in April.

The company highlighted its «strong commitment to the United States», calling it its «most important market», where it will increase from six to nine destinations during the summer of 2022.

This winter season Iberia has scheduled ten weekly flights to New York, ten to Miami, five to Chicago and Boston, three to Los Angeles and four weekly flights to San Juan de Puerto Rico.

The Spanish airline will dominate the offer between Madrid and the United States during November, representing 62.9% of the total number of seats, followed by Air Europa with 12.2%, American Airlines with 11.2%, United with 7% and Delta with 6.7%.

Dallas/Fort Worth and Washington’s connections with Spain

American Airlines will resume its flights between Dallas and the Spanish capital on December 17, it will be operated by Boeing 787-8 and with a daily flight. The company has a Joint Venture with Iberia, therefore the landing Iberia in Texas will increase the availability on the route, which in 2019 carried 243,154 passengers, being the fifth most important between Spain and the United States.

Washington is not currently served by any airline from Spain, although United Airlines knew how to operate it between May and October 2019, carrying 45,790 passengers.

Iberia has announced that it would land in the U.S. capital in May 2020 with five weekly flights and operated on Airbus A330-300s. But the health crisis made the company’s plans change. The route was operated by Iberia between 2010 and 2013.
