Dubai 2021: DHL Express places its largest ever order for 767-300BCF aircraft

On the occasion of the Dubai Airshow, DHL Express (DHL) closed a deal with Boeing for nine additional 767-300 Boeing Converted Freighters (BCFs), representing its largest single order for the model to date, aiding the continued expansion of its long-haul intercontinental fleet in response to growing global demand for capacity.

“We are confident in the quality and OEM expertise that comes with Boeing’s converted freighters,” explains Geoff Kehr, Senior Vice President, Global Air Fleet Management, DHL Express. “The additional B767 freighters are part of our efforts to modernize DHL’s intercontinental long-haul fleet in order to fly greener and more cost-effectively. Our aim is to upgrade our global network while reducing carbon emissions and fuel consumption for the benefit of the environment, partners, and customers likewise.”

DHL has taken delivery of seven of a batch of eight 767-300BCFs, which have been leased to DHL’s airline partners in the Middle East and Latin America to support their expanding regional networks.

DHL Group has a global fleet of 28 Boeing 767-300s and thirteen Boeing 767-200s, all freighters. Panama’s DHL Aero Expreso owns two B767-300s received in 2019 and 2021.

“We are very pleased that DHL continues to expand its 767-300BCF fleet to help meet the growing demand of its global logistics and cargo business,” said Ihssane Mounir, Boeing’s Senior Vice President of Commercial Sales and Marketing.

“The versatility of the 767-300BCF makes it the preferred mid-size widebody converted freighter for the general cargo and express markets, which ensures DHL will have the capacity, reliability, and efficiency to capture growth opportunities and maximize its air cargo operations,” he concluded.

The 767-300BCF can carry up to 51.6 tons (113,900 pounds) over a distance of up to 6,190 kilometers (3,345 nautical miles).
