Brazil: LATAM regains ground and significantly increases domestic seat supply

-

LATAM Brazil will resume 90% of its seat supply on domestic flights and reopen another 15 routes during November.

This percentage is in comparison to this same month but in 2019, before the Covid-19 pandemic. In total, there are 541 LATAM domestic flights per day in Brazil. Overall, these additions will allow the company to strengthen its Brazilian air network and prepare to meet the high demand of the 2021-2022 season.

LATAM has already surpassed the 44 domestic airports serving Brazil prior to the pandemic and is now operating regularly to 47 destinations in the country, including the inaugurations of flights to Juazeiro do Norte (CE) and Petrolina (PE) in early November.

Also this month, the company will reopen 15 other domestic routes: Belém-Macapá, Porto Seguro-Brasilia, Brasília-Foz do Iguaçu, Brasília-Navigantes, Brasília-Palmas, Brasília-Uberlândia, Belo Horizonte/Confins-Fortaleza, Curitiba-Rio de Janeiro/Santos Dumont, Fortaleza-Maceió, Fortaleza-Natal, Fortaleza-Recife, Fortaleza-San Luís, Fortaleza-Salvador, Manaus-Porto Velho and San Luís-Teresina.

Through our media partner Aeroin, we learn that from Brazil to abroad, LATAM will resume this month up to 32% of its international seat offer compared to November 2019, with operations already restored to 16 destinations.

Earlier this month, the company resumed the São Paulo/Guarulhos-Barcelona and Rio de Janeiro/Galeao-Santiago routes, adding to previously returned destinations from São Paulo/Guarulhos to Buenos Aires/Aeroparque, Buenos Aires/Ezeiza, Asuncion, Bogota, Paris, Frankfurt, New York, Lima, Lisbon, Madrid, Mendoza, Mexico, Miami, Montevideo and Santiago.

«We will reach the end of the year ready to serve the high travel season in Brazil. The reason for this is that we are very alert to the recovery in demand. Another reason is that we have reached a level of operational efficiency that allows us to fly to more airports in Brazil than before the pandemic. In the international market, the recovery is slower, but we are also flying back to more and more destinations as the process of reopening countries progresses», said Diogo Elias, LATAM Brazil’s Director of Sales and Marketing.

During last October (compared to 2019), LATAM recorded passenger demand (measured in RPK) of 83.9% and seat supply (measured in ASK) of 83.5% in the Brazilian domestic market, resulting in an occupancy rate of 85.8%.
