Avianca signs agreement with Easyfly and farewells its ATR fleet

Avianca signed a codeshare agreement with Easyfly and requested authorization from the government to implement it, which will allow the company to offer 20 additional destinations.

As a result of this alliance, both airlines will strengthen their network in Colombia and offer travelers the possibility of connecting on both airlines’ flights easily.

From Bogota to: Barrancabermeja, Yopal, Florencia, Mitú, Manizales, Neiva, Popayán, Puerto Asís, San José del Guaviare, Quibdó and Villavicencio

From Cali to: Neiva, Pasto, Tumaco, Quibdó, Villavicencio and Guapi

«Easyfly keeps its mission to connect the most remote regions of Colombia, bringing health, education, and business opportunities through air transportation. After the pandemic, we have recovered a network of 52 routes ensuring coverage of our services in more than 85% of the country’s departments and we remain committed to offering quality service in the regions», said Alfonso Avila, President of Easyfly.

«We believe that with this alliance the greatest benefited will be our customers, who will have the option to connect national and international destinations with easier connections, while at the same time we promote the economic reactivation in the regions», he added.

Avianca: a future without the ATR fleet

At the same time, Avianca Express, the Holding’s regional airline, has requested permission from the Civil Aeronautics Authority to add the A320s to its fleet for its operation. It is worth mentioning that these aircraft will replace the company’s current ATR 72s and will increase the capacity of each flight and consequently its profitability.

Avianca is currently working with the airport authorities to ensure that the terminals have the necessary infrastructure, services, and personnel to handle jet aircraft, which will enter into service once the certifications are completed.

Finally, Julián Laverde, Avianca’s Vice President of Network and Airport Operations, stated «Avianca reaffirms its commitment to continue strengthening connectivity in Colombia.

On the one hand, with the operation of Airbus A320 aircraft with more than 100 seats to offer more capacity in the regions where it is possible to carry out such operations.

And finally, through the alliance with Easyfly, an expert operator in regional aviation that will undoubtedly complement Avianca’s service offering by continuing to connect the regions in turboprop fleet. This will be done in all those airports that have the necessary facilities for this aircraft type.
