Volaris began operations in El Salvador as a Salvadoran carrier, becoming the first low-cost airline in the country and the third Volaris in Central America.
The presentation event took place at the International Airport of San Salvador, together with Volaris CEO, Enrique Beltranena, and the President of El Salvador, Nayib Bukele.
The Salvadoran government expressed that the airport has the advantage of being category 1 in air safety, allowing airlines that are registered in the country to operate to the United States. After the launch, operations began to San Pedro Sula (SAP), in Honduras with six weekly flights; Cancun and Mexico City will be added with two and four weekly services, respectively.
The company has applied to the US Department of Transportation (DOT) to operate, as of March 2022, flights to Washington DC (IAD), New York (JFK), and Los Angeles (LAX).

«It has been proven that our business model is a driving force for the country’s development. In this sense, we appreciate that the government of Honduras gives the importance it deserves as an important driver of national tourism, through infrastructure projects such as its airport, and policies that encourage connectivity», said Enrique Beltranena, CEO of Volaris.
«After many years, El Salvador once again has its own airline. Its base is here, it collaborates with pilots and all Salvadoran personnel (…) With this service we will unite families, friends and connect to the world, without losing sight of the people’s well-being», said President Nayib Bukele.
