Moving towards normalcy, São Paulo-GRU reopens Terminal 1

-

GRU Airport, the concessionaire of São Paulo-Guarulhos Airport, announced that Terminal 1, which had been closed as a result of the drop in operations caused by the pandemic, will reopen on November 9.

The reopening will give new life to the commercial, gastronomic and parking facilities that had been affected by COVID crisis. According to our Brazilian media partner Aeroin, it is estimated that more than 5,000 passengers will transit daily through Terminal 1 on Azul’s domestic flights.

«The reopening of Terminal 1 will increase our operational efficiency, allow companies to generate jobs and bring more comfort and convenience to all airport users,» said Gustavo Figuereido, president of GRU Airport.

This will also mean the restart of bus services connecting T1 with T2 and T3, as well as with São Paulo’s metropolitan trains.

Between January and August 2021, São Paulo-Guarulhos airport mobilized 13,639,004 passengers, representing 48% of the total during the same period in 2019. In the domestic segment, recovery has already reached 66%, with 11,966,323 passengers, while the international segment is at levels of 16%, with just 1,672,681 passengers, a consequence of the multiple restrictions that governments around the world imposed on passengers coming from Brazil.
