Lufthansa Cargo bids farewell to its last MD-11F

-

The last McDonnell Douglas MD-11F of Lufthansa Cargo registered in Europe made its last commercial flight and had its farewell tribute.

The aircraft, registered D-ALCC, landed in Frankfurt from New York just after noon on October 17 in what was its final commercial flight, after two decades of service in the cargo division of the Lufthansa Group.

The company made a special farewell action by sticking on the fuselage of the unit messages such as: «Thank you MD-11» and «Farewell». Frankfurt Airport, home for many years of Lufthansa Cargo’s tri-jet freighters, also greeted the Mad Dog with an emotional video that was published through its YouTube channel.

In addition to the video, the airport used fire trucks to honor the aircraft with the classic water arc when the aircraft entered the apron.

As reported by our partner Aeroin, this model had been flying to Brazil until the end of December last year, before being replaced by the Boeing 777F. You can view the last operation to Viracopos, Sao Paulo, in our partner’s site.
