LATAM Colombia Highlights and Reinforces Its Position

Recently, LATAM Airlines Group Colombian subsidiary announced the surpassing of its number of passengers transported during the third quarter of the year, compared to the same period of 2019, with a total of 1,742,988 passengers moved in Colombia.

The Colombian market has become one of the main countries for LATAM Airlines Group, with a trend that has continued to rise in the recent months.

LATAM Colombia will grow its chair offer by 30% for the next 6 months with the opening of 7 new national routes and the strengthening of its current domestic network, which will have a total of 34 routes in operation by January 2022.

According to a press release, LATAM Airlines Group’s Colombian subsidiary will reach its operation up to 135% in December, compared to the same period in 2019.

The reactivation of the Bogotá – Yopal route is scheduled for October, which will have 4 weekly flights.

In December, the Colombian carrier will begin 7 weekly operations on the Cali – Pasto route and 3 on the Cali – Montería route.

From Medellín, the new routes will operate to Pereira with 7 weekly flights and to Leticia with 5 weekly operations.

Likewise, the carrier will start a direct route from Pereira to Cartagena, with 7 weekly flights. Finally, in January 2022 LATAM Colombia will return to Neiva from Bogotá with 7 flights a week.

The growth of the company’s operation for the next 6 months is also reflected in the weekly flights progressive increase until March 2022 on routes that are already part of the domestic network in Colombia.

In this way, the cities with the highest growth in its operation will be San Andrés, Barranquilla, Bucaramanga, Cali and Medellín.

For San Andrés, it is planned to increase a total of 25 flights a week on the routes from Bogotá, Cali, Cartagena and Medellín, consolidating LATAM Colombia as the most important operator on the Island.

The growth of the operations in Barranquilla will be increased up to 12 weekly flights distributed in all the routes that operate to Bogotá, Cali and Medellín. The latter will be the fastest growing with more than 7 additional flights per week.

Due to the results obtained in the recently inaugurated Bucaramanga – Medellín route, the route is expected to operate daily from November. Likewise, the route to Bucaramanga will have an increase of 7 weekly flights to reach 25 weekly flights.

In the case of Cali, this city will continue to be one of the main growth centers of the LATAM Colombia’s network with 24 additional flights per week.

In the case of Cartagena, the current operation will double, reaching 28 flights a week and on the route to Medellín, 7 additional flights will be operated to reach 27 flights a week.

Finally, for Medellín, it is planned to incorporate more than 18 weekly flights on the direct routes to Montería, Santa Marta and Cartagena.

Since Medellín is one of the main business destinations, the offer will be increased by more than 8 frequencies on the Bogotá – Medellín route to reach more than 71 flights a week.

All this growth in LATAM Colombia’s domestic network will be supported by the incorporation in December of 3 Airbus320 aircraft with capacity for 177 passengers.

In this way, the airline’s fleet will be conformed by 24 aircraft, 22 that will be in operation and 2 for backup.
