«We arrive in Uruguay with the vision to deliver with our SMART proposition with ultra-low fares and new aircraft. We hope that our new Santiago-Montevideo route will support regional connectivity, so diminished in the pandemic, and connect the people of these two countries. This also offers the opportunity to reactivate tourism; for Chilean men and women to get to know the tourist attractions and beaches in Uruguay. JetSMART continues its expansion in the region on its way to reach 100 aircraft and 100 million passengers,» commented Estuardo Ortiz, CEO of JetSMART.
Following the announcement, JetSMART is positioned as the only low cost carrier that will operate the Santiago de Chile – Montevideo route. «We see an opportunity to offer more international routes to all our customers in Chile and opening a new market and improving connectivity in Uruguay,» added Ortiz.
