Air Canada today announced increased service to several key South American destinations as the airline continues to rebuild its global network from its Toronto and Montreal hubs.
Service to São Paulo, Brazil, will resume from Montreal on December 8 with four flights a week year-round, while service from Toronto to Brazil’s financial hub will increase to daily flights beginning December 6. São Paulo will be served by Air Canada’s Boeing 787 Dreamliner.
Service from Montreal to Bogota, Colombia, will resume on December 2 with three flights per week, while Toronto to Bogota flights will increase to four per week beginning November 7, all operated on an Airbus A330-300. The Bogota flights will allow customers to easily connect to Colombia and other South American destinations through Star Alliance partner Avianca.
Air Canada also remains committed to serving Buenos Aires, Argentina, with flights offered to Toronto or Montreal via São Paulo. Flights to Argentina, which has announced plans to reopen to international tourists as of November 1, are still pending government approval.
Another key South American destination will rejoin Air Canada’s network in January 2022 with the resumption of service between Toronto and Santiago, Chile, with three weekly flights.
«We are excited to serve some of South America’s largest cities, offering our customers more travel options from our major hubs. By resuming services from Montreal and adding capacity from Toronto, Air Canada is demonstrating its strong commitment to the Brazilian, Argentine, Colombian and Chilean markets,» said Mark Galardo, Air Canada’s Senior Vice President, Network Planning and Revenue Management.
«This increased presence will not only allow for more leisure travel, but will also help stimulate economic recovery and facilitate business connections. Air Canada has a long-standing presence in Brazil, operating out of Toronto for several decades, which contributes to the strong business relationship between the two countries,» he concluded.
Air Canada is Canada’s largest domestic and international airline, and in 2019 ranked among the 20 largest airlines in the world. It is Canada’s flag carrier and a founding member of Star Alliance, the world’s most comprehensive airline network.
Air Canada is the only airline in the North American international network to receive a four-star rating from British independent research firm Skytrax.
In 2020, Air Canada was named the best airline in North America by Global Traveler for the second consecutive year. In January 2021, Air Canada received APEX Diamond Status certification for Air Canada’s Bio-Security CleanCare+ program for COVID-19 management, becoming the only airline in Canada to achieve the highest APEX rating. Air Canada is also fully committed to achieving the goal of zero net emissions across its global operations by 2050.
