The Mexican market continues to recover: low-cost airlines Volaris and Viva Aerobus are showing strong growth and have already surpassed their best records, set prior to the pandemic.
Viva Aerobus
In August 2021, Viva Aerobus transported 1.39 million passengers through Mexican skies. This represents a 19% growth compared to the same month of 2019, the last pre-pandemic record.

On the other hand, load factor stood at 78.5%, almost 10 percentage points lower than in the same month of 2019. So far this year, Viva Aerobus has transported 9.41 million passengers, 21% more than in the same period of 2019.

Volaris
The ultra-low-cost airline which flies from Mexico to the United States and Central America reported an increase in domestic and international demand of 29.4% and 13.9%, respectively, compared to August 2019. To address this growth it added capacity both domestically (+28.5%) and internationally (+10.5%).

In August 2021, Volaris carried 2.3 million passengers, 22% more than before the COVID-19 pandemic. The total load factor was 84.8%: on domestic flights, it stood at 86.7% while on international flights it was 80.3%.
