Lufthansa Technik will exhibit for the first time, at the Monaco Yacht Show 2021,its pioneering new research on cabin design for long-haul aircraft. The design called «Explorer» is based on the current trend for «superyachts» of the same name.
For the design study, Lufthansa Technik’s VIP corporate professionals have chosen Airbus Corporate JET ACJ330 (the corporate version of the Airbus A330) as their platform. As a classic wide-body aircraft, it offers enough space for a multitude of new cabin ideas. At the same time, only a few ACJ330 cabin models have been introduced to the market so far, so they can receive a great deal of attention from customers.
«Lufthansa Technik regularly carries out new VIP aircraft cabin concepts that meet the latest market requirements and represent the latest trends». Says Wieland Timm, Sales Leader Private and VIP Task Aircraft Services at Lufthansa Technik.
«Over the past months, we have intensively examined the visual environment and the usual resources of the EXPLORER class of ships in order to transfer the design initiative from water to air and consequently to a new cabin design», added Jan Grube, sales director of Lufthansa Technik’s VIP and special mission aircraft services separation.
When developing a cabin plan, a variety of uses can be highlighted. In addition to classic room elements such as bedrooms and living rooms, bathrooms, offices, dining rooms and conference spaces, the study presents many new ideas. One example is a projection system that covers large areas of the ceiling and sides of the cabin, which can then create a new design on the walls and ceiling depending on the projection content used.
The current sketch is designed for approximately 10-16 VIP passengers and is clearly focused on meeting the needs of these passengers to achieve the ultimate «passenger experience».
The cabin concept is still being worked on, and Lufthansa Technik will present the complete research with more «surprises» at the Dubai Air Show in November this year. However, visitors to the Monaco Yacht Show were able to get a first impression of the «Explorer» design and learn more in the Lufthansa Technik Lounge at the Monaco Yacht Club.
