Ecuatoriana Airlines plans to start operations in early 2022 and announces routes from Manta

-

A little over a year ago, the Ecuatoriana Airlines project began to take shape in Ecuador, when it applied for operating permits from the National Civil Aviation Council (CNAC).

At that time, as we reported in this article, the airline had requested the granting of the Operating Permit to operate domestic air transport service, regular, passengers, cargo and mail in a combined way to link twelve cities in the interior of Ecuador, with a strong emphasis on the bridge between Quito and Guayaquil.

The company recently announced that it plans to start operations during the first quarter of 2022 to several destinations in the country, including routes connecting the tourist city of Manta with Quito, Guayaquil and Cuenca.

According to statements made by María Fernanda Intriago, commercial vice-president of Ecuatoriana Airlines, to the portal El Universo, the company plans to «start with three Dash Q400 turboprop aircraft, which are excellent for the Ecuadorian geography and also allow us to open routes». The first planes of this model for the company would be configured with 78 seats.

Intriago also assured that the company has «the need to offer a service with warmth and not only for national tourists, but also for international tourists, since in the future the private company also plans to offer flights to the United States». He also hinted that Ecuatoriana Airlines plans to operate from Manta to the Galapagos Islands.

On the other hand, Eduardo Delgado Martillo, CEO of Ecuatoriana Airlines, assured that the Dash Q400 that the company will fly will allow a good profitability with respect to operating costs, which will result in an offer of optimal prices for users on various routes in the country.

In April of this year, during the corporate image launch event, the company’s CEO highlighted the contribution it will have to promote the country’s economy and generate employment through the development of a national network and, subsequently, to initiate flights abroad.

The company will have, from its beginnings, a strong emphasis on gender parity, which was demonstrated with the appointment of Captain Raquel Sviercovich as Chief Pilot, the first woman to hold this position in Ecuador.
