Azul Conecta prepares to receive 2 new Cessna 208 Caravan EX

-

Azul Conecta is getting ready to incorporate 2 new Cessna 208 Caravan EXs that are still at the Textron factory in Independence, Kansas.

The brand new aircraft of the regional subsidiary of Azul Linhas Aéreas is ready for registration under numbers PS-CNT (msn 208B-5647) and PS-CNA (msn 208B-5648), the latter being painted pink as a sign of support for the breast cancer prevention campaign.

As mentioned at the beginning, the aircraft are ready at the factory and awaiting immediate transfer. According to information sources corresponding to our Brazilian partner Aeroin, we know that both units will first arrive in Belém, where they will undergo customs clearance, and then head to the company’s base in Jundiaí, in the interior of São Paulo.

The single-engine Cessna 208 Caravan is a worldwide success story, having first flown in December 1982, the aircraft is still being produced in modernised versions today.

The unit is highly reliable, highly utilitarian and flexible in operation. It has a high wing, typically has room for 9 passengers depending on its cabin configuration and is powered by a Pratt & Whitney Canada PT6A engine. The new Caravan EXs, meanwhile, are equipped with Garmin G1000 avionics.

Currently, the regional carrier’s fleet is comprised of 17 active Cessna 208 aircraft, both passenger and cargo, flying in several Brazilian territories, providing connectivity and supplying Azul Linhas Aéreas’ main routes.

With the recent extension of its network in the south of the country, Azul also announced new operations to Amazonas, many of which will be handled by Conecta’s Cessna 208s.
