Argentina: Quarantine for fully vaccinated nationals and residents is no longer required

Through Administrative Decision 932/2021, the Argentine government determined the termination, as from September 24, of the quarantine upon arrival for those Argentines and residents who have completed their vaccination schedule at least 14 days prior to entering the country.

In addition to the PCR test performed by the traveler up to 72 hours before boarding and the antigen test performed at the airport, a new PCR test must be performed between the fifth and seventh day after arrival.

During the ten days following arrival, the traveler must carry out his activities “taking extreme precautions and care” and refrain from attending mass events or using the public passenger transport system, except in expressly authorized situations.

One of the doubts was related to those who had been vaccinated abroad: the certificate issued by the country where the vaccination was performed will be accepted by the authorities.

For those Argentines who have traveled and do not have the complete vaccination schedule more than 14 days in advance, the mandatory quarantine is maintained as established in Decree 260/20 and its amendments.

This Administrative Decision does not extend to other issues which are yet to be defined, such as daily/weekly passenger entry quotas, although statements made by the Director of Migration, Florencia Carignano, hinted that once the country reach the target of  50% of the population vaccinated with two doses , the requirement of antigen testing upon arrival will be eliminated and hitting this milestone “a significant increase” in flight operations is to be expected.
