Viva Air Colombia inaugurates flights between Medellin and Mexico City

-

This Tuesday (3) at 20:21 local time, Viva Air’s inaugural flight to Mexico City departed from Medellin International Airport. The Colombian airline will have four weekly operations on Airbus A320s, configured with 180 seats in a single class.

Viva Air Colombia adds a new international destination to its network of destinations to and from Medellin. The Mexican capital is the fifth route, after Cancun, Lima, Miami and Orlando.

With this schedule, the company will offer 720 seats per week between Medellin and Mexico City and vice versa. Aeromexico, its main competitor, has 1,120 seats in both directions with a daily frequency.

«Viva does not stop. This year we have already inaugurated four international routes, which proves our commitment to connect travelers from our Medellín hub with the world. The opening of the Medellin – Mexico City route is fundamental for Viva for several reasons: It strengthens our Medellin Hub as a Connections Center for the region, which will allow direct connection to 14 destinations in the Viva network; it will allow the mobilization of more than 60 thousand travelers in the first year, contributing to the economic and tourist reactivation of both markets; it generates greater proximity between Colombia and Mexico, opening more options for business and exchange; and it will allow more Latin Americans to travel by air, thanks to the Low Cost model that has definitely transformed this industry,» commented Felix Antelo, CEO and president of Grupo Viva.
