SKY Express confirms order for six ATR 72-600s

-

The Greek airline SKY Express and ATR signed an agreement for six new ATR 72-600s, of which one was already delivered to the operator on June 30 and the remaining five will be shipped later this year.

SKY Express, an airline based at the Athens International Airport, seeks to expand its fleet with the aim of expanding its tourism offer in the Mediterranean region. For this reason, the operator decided on the modern ATR 72-600, a versatile aircraft with the ability to access short runways, especially those located on the islands. In addition, its fuel consumption, like CO2 emissions, is reduced by 40% compared to other aircraft in the same segment.

Regarding this new addition of aircraft to the company, the executive director of the group of companies IOGR, Ioannis Grylos, said: “We are expanding and modernizing our fleet, increasing the number of destinations and developing our operations. The acquisition of six new ATR 72-600 aircraft is another milestone in the history of SKY Express.” And he added: «Our ATRs will support the Greek tourism industry and help restart the Greek economy, always showing due respect to our customers and the environment, reaching all areas of our country.»

SKY Express covers a total of 48 destinations in 9 countries. In addition, it managed to negotiate important agreements with other airlines with a long history in the industry such as KLM, Air France and Qatar Airways.

For its part, ATR already registers a total of 550 ATR 72-600s delivered and, thanks to this recent agreement with SKY express, adds a new country to its list. Now this turboprop flies in 54 countries around the world.
