Cargo Boom: iAero adds a new B737-800F to serve DHL

-

The iAero holding has expanded its service, operating six cargo planes of the DHL company. The latest aircraft to be added, a Boeing 737-800F, used an ACMI-based contract by iAero Airways, while the other five existing aircraft will be operated on another leasing system.

Aero Group CEO Robert Caputo said: «We are honored to serve such an iconic global logistics brand with our cargo and insurance services. We look forward to operating additional aircraft for DHL to help them expand their global services.»

In this sense, with the increase in the demand for air cargo as a result of the COVID-19 pandemic, these types of operations have become common, passenger aircraft have been converted into freighters, manufacturers propose new cargo models, and the logistics of vaccines worldwide requires an expansion of the market.

Regarding the commercial operation, the ACMI also known as Wet Leasing, is an agreement between two airlines, in which the lessor agrees to provide an aircraft, crew, maintenance and insurance (ACMI) to the lessee, in exchange for the payment of the amount block hours operated.

The iAero Airways company is the largest charter airline in the US. It is based in Greensboro, NC and Miami, FL. Originally founded in 1997 as Swift Air, with a 20-year history. In 2019, Swift Air was acquired by iAero Group and renamed iAero Airways, and it has the certification FAA Part 121.

iAero Group was founded in 2018 with the aim of being a leading investment platform to incorporate companies in the aviation industry that have a high growth potential in the market.

To date, iAero Group has acquired three companies: MRO AeroThrust Holdings (Miami, FL) in 2018, MRO Miami Tech Aircraft Maintenance (Miami, FL) in 2018, and the largest charter airline in the US, Swift Air ( Greensboro, NC), in 2019. iAero Group partnered with The Blackstone Group to help fund these transactions. These companies have been renamed as iAero Thrust, iAero Tech, and iAero Airways.
