The Mexican airline increases the order of Boeing 737 MAX aircraft to a number of 12 units, in view of its strategy to recover the national air market.
The agreement for this order was signed with DAE (Dubai Aerospace Enterprise), to whom Aeromexico will lease a total of 12 737 MAX aircraft. According to Airline Weekly, the financial terms of this agreement are still unknown.
Aeromexico takes advantage of the current situation in which there are increases in the demand for tourist trips, observing the possibility of new growth in the national and regional market.
According to the statement from the airline, this agreement for 12 MAX aircraft is an additional one to the 28 that had already been ordered last April, totaling 40 units.
“Aeromexico continues its strategy of having the safest, most modern, efficient and
less polluting fleet. The incorporation of new aircraft will allow us to continue strengthening the connectivity in our main operation centers to meet the demand for our clients with the best planes, the best service and a fare family that adjusts to their travel needs,” commented Nicolás Ferri, Executive Commercial Vice President.
This agreement with DAE is part of the negotiation subject to the approval of the United States Court due to the presentation that Aeroméxico made to the bankruptcy court for the voluntary process of financial restructuring of the company under Chapter 11.
Currently, the Mexican airline has a total fleet of 118 aircraft, most of them narrow-body. It is made up of 47 Embraer 190s, 53 Boeing 737s and 18 Boeing 787 Dreamliners.
