The Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) announced on Monday night that it found a new quality problem in the manufacture of several Boeing 787 Dreamliners. Now, Boeing will have to fix them before proceeding with the delivery of the planes.
The FAA explained to Reuters that the problem is «in the nose area of some 787s» and that «it was discovered as part of the 787’s arming system inspection program». The FAA added that «although the problem does not pose an immediate threat to safety, Boeing will repair these aircraft before resuming deliveries.» Finally, they indicated that «they will determine if similar modifications should be made to the 787s that are already in service.»
These problems are in addition to several more that the Chicago-based manufacturer has suffered on several of its models in the last year. Last month, for example, the FAA reported that the 777X is not yet ready for certification. In the same statement, he added that «being realistic» it will only be at the end of 2023.
Boeing has about 100 undelivered 787s. Deliveries of Boeing’s latest aircraft were suspended in late May after the FAA issued two airworthiness directives (ADs) to approach the aircraft’s production problems.
