JetBlue made its maiden flight between Los Angeles and Los Cabos yesterday afternoon, while in the evening it did the same on its route from New York-JFK, thus linking the popular tourist destination with both coasts of the United States with daily operations in each case.
The airline’s maiden flight was greeted by the traditional water arc.
Los Cabos is the fifth busiest airport in Mexico. In 2019, before the COVID-19 pandemic, 5,609,100 people passed through it.
«With the highest travel demand in over a year, our new nonstop flights between the East and West Coasts and Los Cabos are perfectly timed for customers looking for a much-needed escape this summer,» said Andrea Lusso, vice president of planning networks of JetBlue. «At the same time, our newest international destination increases our presence in Latin America and helps advance our network strategies in Northeast and Southern California,» he added.
Fernando Ojeda Aguilar, Secretary of Tourism, Economy and Sustainability of Baja California Sur said “we are delighted by the start of these two new routes that give way to greater connectivity from the United States to Los Cabos. International tourism is our main strategic market so we are sure that these new routes with JetBlue will be a success”.
Flight B6 1463 from Los Angeles will depart daily at 3:15 p.m. to arrive in Los Cabos at 6:40 p.m., returning as flight B6 1464 at 7:45 p.m. and landing in California at 9:20 p.m.
On the other hand, flight B6 939 will take off from JFK airport at 5:20 p.m. with an estimated time of arrival in Los Cabos at 9:20 p.m. The return as flight B6 938 will be at 22:25, landing at 5:50 the next day.

The airline plans to inaugurate another 40 routes until October of this year, when the capacity would exceed by 3% that of the same month of 2019.
JetBlue Airways is based in Long Island, on New York City’s Queens district. Its operational base is located in Terminal 5 of the JFK International Airport.
Its fleet consists of 275 narrow-body aircraft, distributed between Airbus A320 and A321 (ceo and neo) and Embraer E190, which was the launch client. On December 31 of 2020, it received its first A220-300, which will gradually replace the Brazilian manufacturer’s aircraft, scheduled for retirement in 2025.
