Embraer makes its business jets safer through an agreement with VisionSafe

-

Embraer and VisionSafe Corporation announced the signing of an agreement that will make the US manufacturer’s security technology available on the Brazilian conglomerate’s jets.

Through this agreement, VisionSafe’s EVAS (Emergency Vision Assurance System) system will be available on Praetor 500 and Praetor 600 business jets. The new feature will be available through a Supplemental Type Certificate (STC) issued by VisionSafe.

Marsha Woelber, Global Director of Customer Support and After Sales, Maintenance and Support for Embraer Executive Jets stated that «this feature will enhance safety on Praetor executive jets. In doing so, we seek to reflect Embraer’s culture of continually improving its commercial aircraft.»

On the other hand, Chris Skurat, Director of Sales, Business Aviation at VisionSafe, noted Embraer’s ongoing commitment to safety. The same, he added, is evidenced by announcing this partnership with VisionSafe. «Having EVAS available through an STC on Embraer’s Praetor flagship aircraft is very important for commercial aviation,» he said. «We are delighted to announce that EVAS is now available on all Embraer business jets. This will also provide customers with the option to add EVAS as an after sales accessory.»

In addition to the Praetor line, the Legacy 450 and Legacy 500 jets can also be equipped with the system. In 2020, VisionSafe issued an STC applicable to the Legacy 600, Legacy 650 and Lineage 1000 models. In addition, EVAS is available as an equipment on the Phenom 100 and Phenom 300.

EVAS System

EVAS provides a clear space through which a pilot can see the flight instruments and the windshield to control the aircraft in case of smoke in the cabin.

The device works independently and does not require power from the aircraft. It has an autonomous power supply using batteries, a pump and filters down to 0.01 microns. The system is designed to guarantee at least two hours of uninterrupted operation.
