British Airways plans to resume its flights to Rio de Janeiro

From August 3, British Airways plans to resume its flights between London and Rio de Janeiro. The operations plan to be carried out on the Boeing 787-8 Dreamliner, configured with 214 seats in three classes.

The British company will have three weekly flights. With this schedule of operations, British Airways will offer 642 weekly seats between London and Rio de Janeiro and vice versa, less than the ones scheduled prior to the pandemic.

Until March 2020 Norwegian Air UK was flying to Rio de Janeiro from its hub in London-Gatwick. Finally, as a result of COVID-19, it suspended its operations.

Currently, due to restrictions for the Coronavirus, British Airways has suspended its flights to Latin America, with the exception of Cancún and Mexico City. San Pablo is scheduled to be retaken in July, Buenos Aires, Río de Janeiro and Santiago de Chile in August, and San José in November. These five routes may have new modifications later, since it will depend on the evolution of the pandemic in the region.

British Airways plans to begin flights between London and Buenos Aires via São Paulo in August, with the Airbus A350-1000. Operations to the Brazilian city will begin in July.
