The National Directorate of Migration, an agency dependent on the Ministry of the Interior of the Argentine Republic, announced today that it will criminally denounce 287 people who did not comply with the requirement of isolation after entering the country.
In a series of operations carried out last week in Jujuy, La Rioja, Mendoza, Chubut, Corrientes, Santa Fe, Province of Buenos Aires, Salta and the City of Buenos Aires, Migrations detected that 38% of those who entered the Argentine Republic did not comply with these regulations.
«The controls of the provincial and federal forces and the immigration inspectors will be strengthened to detect possible non-compliance. It is a federal crime and those who return from abroad must understand the responsibility and risk implied for the rest not to comply with the protocols,» commented the head of the agency, Florencia Carignano, through a statement.
«Family, friends and work colleagues must collaborate in marking those who do not comply with the quarantine that put life, health and the opening of activities achieved with effort at risk,» added Carignano.
The complaints will be framed under the breach of articles 205 and 239 of the Penal Code, under the figure of violation of measures against epidemics and disobedience to public authority.
Currently Argentina maintains its borders closed to non-resident foreigners, with the exception of registered partners, parents, siblings and children of Argentine citizens. In addition, the only access points by air are the Ezeiza International Airport, Jorge Newbery Airport and San Fernando Airport, all three in the Buenos Aires Metropolitan Area, which entails significant economic damage and an extra health risk for the inhabitants of the interior of the country.
