Iberia will start flying to the Maldives and will recover routes to the United States

Iberia announced its intentions to fly to the Maldives in the next European summer. The company requested permissions to carry out two weekly frequencies during July and August.

Javier Sánchez-Prieto, President and CEO of Iberia, stated: “We believe that the announcement of the flights to Maldives instills encouragement internally, is good news for the tourism sector and is an example of how we are adapting in Iberia to the new circumstances and opening new markets».

The Spanish airline will also operate flights to several routes in the United States (Boston, Chicago and Los Angeles), which are added to Miami and New York, destinations in which Iberia is already operating.

As far as Latin America is concerned, Iberia will once again fly to Cali, Guayaquil and San Juan de Puerto Rico.

“This summer we are betting very strongly on recovery. It is very important to try to save this season because, if not, we will have lost two years and as a country we cannot afford it. The entire tourism sector is hopeful that the vaccination campaigns will function to lift the restrictions and it is essential that valid formulas are undertaken for Europe, America and any country in the world», Sánchez-Prietto added.

In Europe, during the summer, Iberia will also operate routes to various destinations such as Bergen, Budapest, Corfu, Catania, Dubrovnik, Olbia, Oslo, Split and Zagreb.

For its part, Iberia Express will be flying to Heraklion, Mykonos, Santorini, Bari, Palermo, Cagliari, Zadar and Malta and, in addition, it will launch a new route to Cephalonia.

Iberia Regional / Air Nostrum will also offer direct flights from the Balearic Islands to Nice, Geneva and Zurich.
