Embraer published a technical guide for desinfection of commercial aircrafts

-

UV-C lights have been tested and approved for the elimination of the COVID-19 virus in the cabin of Embraer´s commercial aircraft. This arises from a desinfection technical guide prepared by the Brazilian manufacturer released this Monday, March 8.

The document also specifies disinfectant chemicals and coatings that eliminate the proliferation of COVID-19 in the passenger cabin and are compatible with the materials present in the passenger cabin after being developed by conducting comprehensive tests and ease of application on all surfaces. This includes the EMB120 Brasilia, ERJ 145 and the E-Jets and E-Jets E2 families, which together are a total of 2,500 aircraft in operation by more than 100 customers in around 80 countries.

«Embraer is always working on finding solutions that help its customers and their operations. The main objective of this guide is to effectively eliminate or deactivate microorganisms or viruses in the flight deck and in the passenger cabin through an effective but easy procedure» commented Johann Bordais, President & CEO of Embraer Services & Support.

This is in addition to the technical guide developed in December to define the transport characteristics and loading requirements for vaccines against COVID-19 in its commercial aircraft. Considering that these require low temperatures that are maintained using dry ice, an E-Jet can transport more than 100,000 doses depending on the configuration of the aircraft and the type of containers used.

On the other hand, the company also highlighted the issuance of a Service Bulletin that allows ERJ 145 aircraft operators to install HEPA filters. These are already included on all E-Jets and E-Jets E2, as well as on the Praetor 500 and Praetor 600 business jets (as well as being available for all other business jets).

Finally, the Brazilian manufacturer approved the use of MicroShield360 and Bacoban products as long-term prevention system that when applied to the surfaces of the cabin, inhibit the growth of microorganisms, viruses and bacteria.
