Azul Linhas Aéreas transported 25.9% less passengers during February

Azul Linhas Aéreas decreased the number of passengers transported during February by 25.9% compared to January this year. This decrease is explained by the upcoming low season together with the increase in COVID cases.

Comparing the RPK (number of passengers transported by the number of kilometers flown) of February 2021 with 2020, a decrease of 34.4% can be observed (counting domestic and international trips).

According to the information reported by our partner site Aeroin, when compared to January 2021, February shown a 25.9% decrease in passengers transported. It should be noted that last month domestic operations represented 98.7% of the total.

Comparing to the previous month, the offer of seats on Azul flights decreased by 25.6%. The airline’s occupancy rate was similar to that of January: 78.4% in February against 78.7% in the previous month.

John Rodgerson, CEO of Azul, said: “The next few months will be challenging, with the low season and the second wave of the pandemic. Therefore, we are adjusting our flight offerings and will continue to monitor the situation closely”.

In addition, he added: “Brazil is making progress in its vaccination efforts and we are confident that we will see gradual improvements in the country’s health condition as we are seeing in other regions of the world.”
