Wingo started December strongly by incorporating flights to Santa Marta and Medellín into its domestic network, and the restart of international operations to Aruba, Costa Rica, Cuba and Ecuador.
The low cost has been increasing its flights and consolidating itself in the Colombian domestic market, on December 4 it inaugurated the flights between Bogotá and Medellín (Cordova); and on December 14 between Bogotá and Santa Marta, both routes with a daily frequency. «We are committed to Antioquia and its demand for air connectivity not only internationally, but now also at the national level,» assured Carolina Cortizo, General Director of Wingo, when inaugurating the connection to Medellín.
In the meantime, it has consolidated as the Colombian-based low cost with the greatest international presence, by restarting flights to Aruba on December 3, to San José, Costa Rica on December 4 and to Guayaquil, Ecuador on December 15. In addition, on December 17, Havana, Cuba would be incorporated, becoming the only airline connecting both countries.
The company reported that it will gradually increase its international operations, according to the behavior of demand and restrictions of each country to which it operates. In order to give users more flexibility, Wingo tickets include the first change of date without penalty to any of the destinations in its network.
Wingo currently operates in Cancun, Punta Cana, Quito, Santo Domingo and Panama City. In 2021 Curaçao and, pending authorization, Caracas, Venezuela would join the offering. The destination network is completed with the operations in Barranquilla, Cali, Cartagena and San Andrés.
