Copa Airlines Sets the Date for the Boeing 737 MAX Fleet Return to Service

-

Through a communication addressed to all its employees Pedro Heilbron, Copa Airlines’ CEO, announced that as of January 4 2021 they will reincorporate the company’s Boeing 737-9s into commercial service.

The decision was made after the Civil Aeronautics Authority of Panama evaluated and ultimately adopted the permissions granted by the Federal Aviation Administration.

«Committed to the safety of our crews and passengers from the very beginning, we included in the configuration of the aircraft indication systems and alerts that were optional, allowing our pilots to have greater situational awareness during the flight,» Heilbron said in the missive. «Additionally, since mid-2018 we defined and established a robust training program for our MAX pilots, which was strengthened with the acquisition and commissioning of a flight simulator for MAX aircraft models,» he added.

The manager explained that during this month they will be carrying out test flights without passengers of each of the six 737 MAX 9 that they have in Panama, and the two other aircraft that will be added before the end of the year. In addition, during the first quarter of 2021 they will receive another five that were manufactured but not delivered.

Initially, the aircraft will be deployed on the longest routes that link Panama with San Francisco, Los Angeles, Buenos Aires, Montevideo and Santiago de Chile.

Copa becomes the fourth airline to announce the return of the MAX after Gol, Aeroméxico and American Airlines, ending more than 20 months of grounding.

  1. Hola Edgardo capooo !
