Paraguay Gained Non-stop Flights to US after 5 Years

-

Paraguay remained for years as one of the few Latin American markets without non-stop flights to the United States, but that situation came to an end last Sunday, November 8, after Eastern Airlines inaugurated its flights between Asunción and Miami.

The airline will operate a weekly flights on Sundays with Boeing 767-300 aircraft, and by December Eastern will add a second weekly flights on Wednesday.

Given the extensive offer from other regional hubs like Sao Paulo, Buenos Aires, Lima and Panama, and its relatively small market, Asunción couldn’t consolidate a strong demand base for non-stop flights to US.

American Airlines was the last company connecting Paraguay’s capital with the United States until 2015.

No more quarantine

Starting November 16, Paraguay will no longer ask for 14 days quarantine on international arrivals

The information was given by the Ministry of Health to senior government officials and representatives of the private sector, as well as to the Silvio Pettirossi airport authorities for implementation in mid-November.

«A meeting was held with the National Directorate of Civil Aeronautics (DINAC), the Ministry of Health and the General Directorate of Migration (DGM) and it was determined that on November 16 the mandatory quarantines would be annulled,» announced Douglas Cubilla, director of the Silvio Pettirossi airport.

All travelers who arrive in Paraguay through the Silvio Pettirossi airport in the city of Asunción, will be exempt from quarantine, being required the certificate with a negative result with a maximum of 72 hours prior to the trip to enter.

Last Friday Asunción Airport put into operation a laboratory to carry out tests for COVID-19. It is installed in the parking lot of the boarding area and the results are delivered in 60 minutes, announced the airport director.
