Largest Latin America E-commerce Gets its ‘very own plane’

-

Brazil’s branch of Latin America’s largest e-commerce platform, Mercado Livre, rolled out today the first Boeing 737 with its very own yellow livery.

The application on the Boeing 737-400F is the result of a partnership with cargo airline Sideral Linhas Aéreas, which also operates charter flights, mainly for soccer teams.

Mercado Livre already had an established alliance with Azul Linhas Aéreas, utilizing belly cargo capacity in its passenger aircraft and, more recently, in the world-first Embraer E195 converted to freighter, as well as in its two Boeing 737-400F.

With this customization and maintaining the appropriate proportions, the Argentina-based e-commerce company begins to emulate the steps of Amazon, which is a great competitor in the markets where Mercado Libre operates.

According to what was reported by our media partner AEROIN in recent months, Amazon has also expanded its operations in Brazil, but does not yet have its own fleet of aircraft. Meanwhile, its US-based fleet of 80 Boeing 737 and 767 aircraft is operated privately or by partner companies, such as Atlas Air.

This Tuesday morning, the plane was spotted in São José dos Campos, after leaving the DIGEX painting facilities. Shortly after, it departed for Curitiba, where Sideral Linhas Aéreas has its headquarters.
