Tocumen Airport in Panama Restarted International Scheduled Flights

-

The airline industry began to reactivate in Panama a few weeks ago with the restart of domestic flights and as of yesterday, Monday, October 12, the Tocumen airport, in Panama City, reopened its doors to regular international commercial traffic after 7 months.

The airlines that once again offered flights to Panama City are Spirit, United, Delta, Copa Airlines, KLM, Wingo and Avianca.

In total, 80 daily operations are expected to start at the Tocumen airport, according to what was reported by the manager of Tocumen Airport, Raffoul Arab.

All Panamanians, residents and foreigners who enter Panama must present a certificate of PCR or negative antigen tests that has a maximum of 48 hours from the moment of issuance, without the need to comply with mandatory isolation. If the passenger doesn’t have one, it can be done at Tocumen Airport at a cost of USD 50.

«From this Monday (October 12), three laboratories strategically located and duly signposted for the attention of travelers, in the central area, north dock and satellite B inside Terminal 1 of the Tocumen international airport come into operation», said a source from Tocumen Airport.

The result of the study to detect whether or not a passenger has COVID-19 is obtained in approximately 20 or 25 minutes. If the traveler tests positive, they must complete isolation for seven days, before undergoing a new test, Arab added.

At the moment and as a result of the pandemic, Aeroméxico decided to permanently cancel the route that connects Mexico City with Panama City. It will only be a matter of time for the route to be operated again.

The “hub of the Americas”has been the main connection point in America for several years, thanks to the large number of flights it received daily from different parts of the continent and also its offer to other parts of the world. The arrival of COVID-19 paralyzed the activity of the hub, which since Monday seeks to recover (little by little) the movement that it once achieved.
